Matcha is a very fine powdered green tea that is usually used for the Japanese Tea Ceremony. Traditionally, Matcha is whisked into hot water with a specially crafted bamboo whisk. Recently, though, it has also been gaining recognition as a great addition to traditional cooking to easily add health benefits & antioxidants. Our Matcha was organically grown and comes in a tin that yields approximately 40 cups of tea when 1/2 teaspoon is whisked into 6-8oz of water in the traditional way.
One of our favorite ways to incorporate all of Matcha's goodness into our diet is by making this delicious drink:
Iced Matcha Latte:
Use 1-2 teaspoons of Matcha, whisked into a small amount of water (to prevent clumping)
Add this to 1 to 1 1/2 cups of milk in a cocktail shaker
Fill with ice
Add sugar to taste (We like to use a simple syrup we make by dissolving 1 part sugar in 1 part water on the stove or in the microwave)
Shake well and enjoy in a glass with the ice, or strained into a martini glass for fun!
